I have been with COX since Oct 1998. Never had any problems, until about a year ago. Winter 2005 I kept losing my connection, on a daily bases, slow connects, timed out email. Cox said it was my old Linksys modem, so I replaced it in January with a new Motorola SB1020. Things got a little better, but the problems persisted.

Then things really went south and I replaced my Netgear 314 with a new Belkin Router F5D7231-4 . That seemed to stop the intermittent loss of service that I was getting, but I still have to power down the entire network, and bring it back up, once every 10 to 14 days, and I have lots of time outs with Eudora on email, even using Godaddy's POP and SMTP server, which is a hell of a lot better then Cox's.... but I think Cox, some how, gets in the way of Godaddy's server. Cox's email is so over run with spam that it is essentially unusable.

My feeling is that, despite their protestations of "it's not us" .... they are the source of the problems.

in the past have had a problem rebooting modem, new modem fixed that.

have a problem with my netgear fvs318 having to reboot once in awhile and I can access router remotely and reboot.

Bought a new inexpensive USR router, still doing this and I have to physically reboot the router ( can not access remotely.)

I am confused a little, I assumed a router problem, what else could cause this ? Could it just be Cox somehow ?

thanks
