I have a P4-3GHz with HT and 2 GB RAM. That should be plenty for any of the lower end graphics cards.

In many video card reviews the relationship between the CPU and GPU is mentioned so people understand that running a 7900GT on a mobo with a Sempron CPU is going to be a waste of time. The Sempron will bottleneck the GPU's performance and it would be money better spent to couple it with an A64 running @ 2.4 GHz or better. If I had a mobo with an Athlon XP running @ 2+ GHz and 512 MB's RAM I would feel confident that a 6600GT would be a good investment.
