C2D boards are all fairly quirky atm.

I guess the best one will be the Intel badaxe board but it has its own
drawbacks (overclocking).

All the boards are pretty picky about RAM as well, many high-speed DDR2 RAM
modules need 2.0-2.2v to work, yet most of these board will only supply 1.8v
at POST, so many people are buying a cheap stick of generic RAM to plug in,
set RAM voltage, power down and swap RAM.....not ideal.

Then those are not JEDEC certified DDR2-800 RAM. This low latency "gaming" crap sold out there will only work at higher voltages, even at stock JEDEC timings. You are actually better off buying the "value" line of any DDR2-800 model from Corsair or whatever because they will work at 1.8v at JEDEC timings of 5-5-5-18. Being anal about faster timings gets you hardly any benefit these days.
