It's possible to reinstall the TCP/IP stack by using the command 'netsh
int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt' (from
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=299357). Also try disabling XP's
firewall, and ensure that there are no other software firewalls installed
as it's possible they're blocking DHCP.

Was any software installed recently? Could it be causing a conflict somehow?
