The OP did say he had a Gigabyte board didn't he? Gigabyte has @Bios
that will allow one to update their bios via Windows but I don't
know of a utility that allows one to modify specific bios settings
with Windows. Heck I never heard of such a thing in my old DOS days
either. Heck one is lucky they can save the Bios to an external file
in case of disaster. Many Gigabyte boards also come with dual bios
so one can back up the bios settings. If your system has Dual Bios
have you tried restoring the backup?
I recall two utilities that ran under DOS and allowed one to edit the
BIOS (and unlocked extra options that weren't available through the
normal CMOS setup.) This was back in the late 80s/early 90s, so it
was probably long before your time. <big grin>
