You are right about the USB being able to be moved to a location of
best reception. You can stick a 15 foot USB extension on the end of
it if needed to find the best location. If you are trying to get any
kind of range you are going to want the USB wireless. The PCI will
work OK if everything is in close proximity or an area of good transmission.
The proximity of the antenna to the metal might cause problems, as
well is the overall location of the PC. This little USB box would
allow one to put the antenna up in the air away from the PC and
perhaps with a little better chance of keeping/getting strong signal.
