It has been available to MSDN subscribers since early December. I've been running it for about 5 weeks now.
I opted to go x64 with Vista, as MS is requiring manufacturers to have an x64 driver to achieve Vista logo certification. What amazes me more than anything is the distinct lack of drivers and utility software when Vista is going to be going retail in 2 days. For example: (1) Cisco has STILL not released ANY x64 Windows VPN client. Even though XP x64 and Server 2003 x64 have been available for years--nothing. This one is my biggest complaint. I had to install the VirtualPC 2007 Beta (see below) to install an XP x86 VM just to connect to my company's network remotely. (2) No final virtualization software. (3) Only Raxco has a defragmenter available for Vista (4) Symantec/Veritas does not have a client for Vista, x86 or x64, for the Backup Exec software. (Symantec has had a version of corporate antivirus available for Vista since before RC1, however) (5) Various driver headaches (sound, scanner, printer...) (6) Neither nVidia nor ATI have fully featured driver sets for Vista yet ...and so on. I like the OS, I just feel that this level of support by hardware/software companies is disgusting given that this is 2007.
