Yup, dunno why, but the older NAS boxen I have, the SNAP server, 2500 bucks
when new, RAID 5, four 80 gig drives, has always topped out at 33 Mbps
transfer rate over my network.   The el-cheapo single-drive Hawking NAS I
have does the same thing.   Both have IDE drives inside if that has
anything to do with it.....

Which is why when I saw the new D-Link almost saturated my whole Ethernet
100 Mbps link at 90-92 Mbps sustained transfer, I was ecstatic..   :)

They've always been used for backups, not realtime streaming or anything,
so I guess I never really paid attention to the speed issue.
