Yup, dunno why, but the older NAS boxen I have, the SNAP server, 2500 bucks when new, RAID 5, four 80 gig drives, has always topped out at 33 Mbps transfer rate over my network. The el-cheapo single-drive Hawking NAS I have does the same thing. Both have IDE drives inside if that has anything to do with it.....
Which is why when I saw the new D-Link almost saturated my whole Ethernet 100 Mbps link at 90-92 Mbps sustained transfer, I was ecstatic.. :) They've always been used for backups, not realtime streaming or anything, so I guess I never really paid attention to the speed issue. >>That is friggin SLOW. I get 400Mbps ( ~40MB/s ) off my gig-e attached file >>server and I think it's slow, I don't even know how I'd deal with something >>slower than USB2. >> -- JRS <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Please remove **X** to reply... ...Cleverly Disguised As A Responsible Adult...
