New one on me .  If pulling the power cord and removing the battery does
not work, then you have a problem.   

Any laptop I've had do a hard lock up here or at work has always recovered
after pulling the battery for a couple minutes unless something was
physically broken or damaged.

I wonder if you might have to open it up and remove the CMSO battery for a
time?
