I dl'd and looked at the specs for both chips. If it were me, I would not
even think about a swap. First the ratio's (?) are not compatible, and
then the FSB speeds are not even close. One is a Celeron and the other is a
true P4. May not be same "family/etch/stepping" going on here. I would
expect that the results you have so far are as good as it gets! I vote for
a no-go this time.
I suppose you have a dead m/b for sure, and, maybe (?) a dead cpu, but w/o
a working m/b for each cpu (for elimination) it is a hard call.
AND, I went to sleep all during the Pentium 4 series, so I could be very
lame.......I went AMD at the P4.
BTW, the antique Micron is now parked (retired) after getting its' scsi
bios update AND 61 winupdates ! LOL! Works like a champ now......(a
future server).......Thanks.

SL79L should work in a slower motherboard.
