OK, now I need a MS Word 2K3 guru! Yes, I've googled, done the MS KB shuffle, and checked forums that seem to be focused to MS Word. All strike-outs on this one.

Machines (3) run W2kProSP4 and Ofc2K3. Used a "custom install" because I really only use Word and Excel. I have erased and reinstalled Ofc2K3, and now (finally) have spent the last 3 days patching each machine with some 15 many MB patches for Ofc2K3 that MS says I need. What a chore! I have allowed MS Word to do whatever "updates" to my older Word files as necessary (all came from Word '97) when they are opened.

Problem: Open and office document. At some point engage the "find" function (ctrl+f). The function works, but it changes the color of the <pageUp> and <pageDwn> double-arrows in the lower right-hand border. Once this color change (from black to blue) takes place, the "find" function is locked ON. I can not reset the function without a save&close of document and close of Word.

Does anyone know what is going on? Is there a MS tech forum that I can raise this issue to? I have been fighting this glitch for 6 months now. Have I missed some new switch on the options panel?
Do I need to open/close all my dot-doc files? Bummer.......
Worse, do I really have to load the full-tilt boogy of Ofc2K3 to get rid of this?
Thank you.
Best,
Duncan
