Hard to tell with no model number <grin>.
A friend gave me an old VHS/DVD burner (set-top-type),
and when I checked, I had to locate, D/L, and burn two
ISOs (CDs).
One re-did the unit OS, and the other flashed the firmware.
(Surprised me it had both.......)
So you can't tell until you search....

I have a friend with a old TV, I think a Panasonic, one of those with
a built in VHS DVD player deal. I think it has a corrupt clock BIOS.
It keeps turning off after a few minutes of play, and then it will
turn on by itself in the middle of the night. It must be the sleep /
alarm feature is corrupt. Is there a way to reset a BIOS on a TV. I
have tried unplugging and letting it sit for a few days but that
didn't help. Anybody know if there is a trick to reset a TV BIOS?
