may be old school thinking but sometimes drives act funny when formatted on different controllers. Seems like in the old days this could be a problem but was not aware it mattered anymore. Only mention this cause the manual on my new mb ( m2n-e ) says something about drives not being detected and setup properly if formatted on a different mb.
clean installs are always best, not planning on doing it this time when I change the MB ( activation is enough PITA ) cause the last clean install took me 3 days to get back where I wanted it. :-[ luck fp At 09:28 PM 9/29/2007, Winterlight Poked the stick with: >>seems to me these are generally software or device driver problem related, >>but has been awhile since I seen one. >>my system is 2 wd 500gb sata drives and two pata dvd's ( rom and burner) >>video is 7600gs, 2 gb of corsair xms >>If it were me, and the bug started with the sata drive I might be tempted to >>go back to pata boot, if not for no other reason then to test it. >>Also, I hope you did not update the sata drivers from ms update. very bad. > >no...
