I am having some issues with my current Win XP install and am thinking about doing a wipe and reinstall (its been awhile). I have both Win XP Pro and Win XP x64 edition CDs available (MAPS). I am running an Opteron with 2 Gig of DDR memory. Is there any advantage to using the 64-bit edition over the 32-bit edition?
I spend most of my time in Office 2003 (word, publisher, outlook and access) and encoding using Nero (6.6.1.4) and AGK (Auto Gordian Knot). I have checked online and it seems that both my printer and scanner have x64 drivers/software available. My understanding is that Office 2007 is still 32-bit. I there any mainstream 64-bit software in wide usage? >From what I can find, one advantage is if you are using 4+ Gig of RAM. Other than that, I can't seem to find a real advantage. Any sage advice?
