I had a real screaming in an older AMD XP3200+ system that would rattle your bones. Searched far and wide, but you are right, quiet upgrades are few and far between. Finally found a source for Evercool HPA-C715 Super Silent Turbo Cooler Heat Sink and Fan. Took a chance and found it to be quiet and a good cooler. The reduction in noise was beyond noticeable! Since this computers had been relegated to an htpc in a bedroom, quiet was a necessity!
