For all these years, I have operated under the belief that when I update
bios on a m/b, I only update 1/2 of the chip; the 'reset default' side of
the chip image. The side with my "user" settings does not change due to the
flash.
Am I correct?
This means, that even though my boot msg says I am at level "QR" bios, I
might even still be running at a previous bios level (choices). Now,
normally I do a "reset default" on the first reboot after a flash because I
believe this is what transfers the new image to the current "user" image;
the image I will now insert my chosen settings due to my hdw stack........
Well, not always I am afraid. Now, that I have detailed lists of all my
bios settings (by machine), it is much easier........ :)
Have I missed something in time? Yes, I am playing with a very old 440BX
m/b and a p2-450.
I am certain that this might just be the extent of my comprehension ability
any more! LOL!
My eyes ofter glaze over when all you fast-Katz discuss your latest blazer!
