No pedestal here sir!

Big picture - how a small questions tie into the
overall problem being examined
& the need to go beyond a few questions by reading the
breadth of the material
on the problem.

Got a firewall entry? Read about TCP/IP, invest in
some real logging software,
read up on what amounts to an attack vs. normal noise,
understand you are less
likely to be hacked than socially engineered, etc...

Do I have a virus? Scan with a known good product, ask
the question "have I done
anything to get one?", know you system & what's
running on it.

Dunno about lingo changes and I do know Google is
becoming harder to filter out
the noise when trying to understand something. There
are things you've asked or
expressed that lean towards "tin foil hat" and give
into "I guess I am not at
that level of understand" too often. We all want you
to get it & be able to work
though I think that stands in the way of helping you
sometimes.

I'm glad to have helped in the past and will likely
continue to do so from time
to time.
