Ah. That makes sense. The RAID cards I've used in the past have all had individual connectors (either IDE or SATA) for each of the drive ports. I haven't worked with SAS before but from what I've gathered it's just SCSI moving in the serial age. Don't plan on using SAS in my application but I guess it would be an okay option to have for future proofing.
