Actually, I found a article on how to tweak your ATI card for UT3 or any
other game,
http://www.tweakguides.com/UT3_2.html
mostly explaining what the settings do, ...and after tweaking my card
it made a huge difference. I may not be seeing all the special effects
but the game plays great and I don't notice a difference
LOL, I know that old trick. Good site but you'd be surprised what you are missing in
most cases. Played Crysis happily on my XP w/ X850 card then played it on the
X3870X2, jaw dropping graphics and little nuances that I could not switch back from.
RAM drive for TEMP likely counter-productive.
running from RAM rather then a hard drive counter productive... why?
More RAM free for buffering & apps makes sense over storing TEMP data. If you feel
otherwise I'd sure like to see a real world benchmark for a given application that
says it's helpful for anything but video editing.
If you upgrade, skip Sapphire next time!
I bought it used on EBAY and it has been problem free, the fastest AGP
card they made. I am not overclocking it. I thought Sapphire was the
only official third party card maker for ATI... I thought they made the
ATI cards for ATI.
Right now they are on my shit list for not fixing the fan bug and selling
un-certified ATI cards. So #1 ATI partner or no, they aren't worth spit right now
when there are other authorized OEM's with certified designs & no fan issues.
