Three years ago I bought a entry level Okia Office color laser.
I was sick of throwing away dried up cartridges for my inkjet and
constantly dealing with feed problems. I wanted something that would
be problem free and last.
I use to administer lots of dental offices and they all had OKI dot
matrix printers that churned out insurance forms day after day
without ever having a problem, so I decided on OKI a commercial
quality printer that has never been targeted to consumers.
This printer has operated flawlessly for me. It has built in
networking. Over the last three years I have picked up a proprietary
256 meg module and a duplex unit on Ebay for it for very reasonable
money and now it does everything I could want. Tech supported is a
business oriented setup and has been great when I have a question.
I also have a Epson R200 for CDs?DVDs as well as photographs, and a
Samsung desktop laser for envelops but I rarely use the Epson and the
Samsung cost me 40 bucks and the toner that came with it will last me
at least 5 years.
The OKIA is HUGE, something you would find in a office or a school,
it is full of cartridges. Five I think and they cost 60 to 80 bucks a
piece. However, I do not print very much and I still have 50 percent
of the original cartridges I started out with three years ago. The
drums and are also expensive.... five of those, but I have 75 percent
of those left, and transfer belt and fuser ... very expensive ...are
still in the 95+ percent range. Keep in mind that my page count for
three years is only 1298
So for me, it has been a very good deal, and I don't expect start
buying toner for another couple of years. And if I do buy cartridges
it will only be one time. But if you print a lot, then supplies are
quickly going to be more expensive then the printer. But I think that
is going to be with any color laser.
I would not get a inexpensive desktop color laser because these are
complicated and full of parts. I would only buy a desktop laser as a
disposable, out of warranty sort of item. The supplies will quickly
exceed the cost of the unit.
but for myself, I would not hesitate to get another OKI.

I am in need of a color laser printer for my home office. I have been

and it seems like a decent printer. I have not been able to find much in
the way of reviews or operating costs. Is this a good printer?
Thanks!
