I am in the process of removing hdw and sw objects from my main office machine. I think it is on borrowed time because of spooging caps in the cpu VR circuitry.

Today, I removed the Philips Acoustic Edge PCI sound card. I enabled the on-board AC'97 sound system. I will look on the Asus drivers disc for any accessory tools for this, but for now, with just the option enabled, I find that the sonic output seems better both in quality and volume than the old Philips card. Who knew? LOL!
Now, I'll do the same with my Gaming machine that uses the same m/b......... :)
On-board audio systems have come a very long way since I last played with one.
Best,
Duncan
