Just as way of an update, I bought two USB repeater cables from Newegg
at $10 each and had to use both, but I'm now up and running.  Webcam
resolution still sucks.  Additional note, I found that I had a bad
cable.  It'll work fine with a mouse, but won't work with a webcam.
Found that a little strange....
