If you use the reset IE settings button does that help? Also set each
security zone to default?
I reset the IE settings (disabling all addons, etc.) and reset security
and privacy settings to default.
I finally found an uninstaller and was able to take off IE7 and was able
to get back to IE6, afterwhich everything worked.
