Well, there were some firmware problems for the Seagate 1.5 TB drive when it first appeared. That has apparently been resolved. Maximum PC this month compares this drive to the Western Digital Velociraptor 300GB in their head to head feature, and picks the Seagate as the one to buy primarily for value for the money but also for it's quick performance.
They actually said the best choice is both drives, one for programs and one for media. I have the Velociraptor and will probably get the Seagate... 1.5TB of high performance for 130 bucks is hard to beat
