I know that XP does NOT have the old CDPlayer (cdplayer.exe). I miss it, got used to it, ........?
I know that XP focuses on WMP.............I do not care for WMP much.

OK, so I find that I can go to my one remaining W2K machine and borrow (copy) cdplayer.exe and drop this file into my XP/Win%/System32/ directory; and have my CDPlayer back..............well, sort of?

What other steps/routines do I need to do in XP to accept and stitch in the old W2K application?

My bug is that whenever I start CDPlayer, I get the player, but I also get another "ghost" player console w/o any controls. I can NOT even close/erase the "ghost." I will believe that I need to TELL XP something, somewhere...........I suspect a registry key, but have not yet found same..............
Suggestions, opinions, ideas..........welcome.
Best,
Duncan
