As for status, the more I thought about doing it myself (and I'm cheap),
the more I became enamored of the idea. So...I now have a cheapie SATA
card and will be looking at software soon. Also, I picked up a gigbit
switch and network card for this beast. Up til now I've been running
10/100 off the linksys, I'm going to connect the linksys to the switch
and all the computers to the switch. They should all run at 1000 speed
while the internet will come in at the slower speed, which is still 5 or
6 times faster than my cable internet.

The Xbox and Mac in the living room are both wireless, but data
transfer still works OK. :)
