Hey,

AS an FYI, I use Nero Vision 9 to take one or more recorded shows and write
them to a DVD image on my HD. AT a later time, I use Nero Burning ROM to
create a DVD from that image.

I have a Core I7 920 on an Asus P6T Deluxe with Vista 64 Ultimate. After I
installed Nero 9 on the new system, Nero Vision would crash when it was
transcoding the menus. So I finally contacted Nero support about it and
here is what they said:

" According to your description you want to burn your DVD-Video to your hard
drive using Nero Vision, but you always get an error message.

We were able to reproduce the problem in the meantime.

We are working full speed at a solution to this problem and will implement
this in one of the next updates of Nero 9.

Nero 9 update page:

Sadly we have no means of offering a patch to solve the problem in the
meantime.

The only workaround which may help is to reduce the amount of cores for the
process of Nero Vision to a maximum of four cores using the Windows Task
Manager. In most cases this works.

We apologise for the inconvenience.

Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us
again. "

They were correct on the work around. To use the work around:

1) Load up NV, and get to the point where you want to write to the disc

2) Go into Process Explorer ( I don't know about the regular task manager)
and right-click on the NeroVision.exe line

3) Click on Set Affinity...,

4) Deselect CPUs 0-5, leaving only CPUs 6-7 selected

5) Start the process of Nero Vision creating the image

6) After the menus have been transcoded and it starts transcoding the
video(s), repeat the "Set Affinity" process and select CPUs 2-7. If I
select them all, then the image creation usually fails.

Nero never said if it was the I7, Vista Ultimate, or Vista 64 or a
combination of some sort that caused the issue.

Hope this helps someone.

Thanks,

Bobby
