Well, I don't seem to get enough of this crap....I installed a trial of
Magix Music Maker. This is supposed to be similar to Cubase/Reaper, but
a lot easier to use. With the latter two, I usually spend more time
setting up a channel than actually making sounds.
Anyways, the demo seems to run, but on shutting down the program, I get
a "TaskBarIcon: An Internal Program Error has Occurred" and the Control
Panel opens up. I've never seen anything like that before. So I
contacted their technical support.
I really should have known that I'd get something like this (They're
German), but after using their system scanning software, I get a 7 page
email on what is wrong with my system. Mind you, they never address
what is happening. But two of the things they sent are really bizarre:
[ 4.]
Your operating system and the installed "Hyperthreading Technology" processor
are incompatible. You could disable the support for the "Hyperthreading
Technology" in your "Mainboard BIOS" to solve this. Otherwise your computer
could hang or crash.
A faster system will be a welcome side effect of this.
[ 6.]
ASPI error! Your ASPI is not correctly installed!
ASPI is needed, for example, to read digital audio CD's and also for burning
CD's.
Please download and reinstall the ASPI driver from Adaptec's website.
Just to say that I had thought that ASPI was no longer need for CD/DVD
burning but the Hyperthreading thing just seems bizarre. Do they have
something here?
Thanks....Steve
