Rick,
That is pre-zactly what I have seen also. RShack is convenient. No argument. A good commercial electronics supplier that is local can be really tough. I think I am lucky, finally! I now have a local Electronics Source I can use. I'm not overly crazy about "their" in-house choices of stuff, but, they will ORDER/Source whatever I ask for...... Certainly not like when I lived in SoCal.

We live all over. One size (in this List) does NOT fit all!
But, I do know that most List members will do whatever needs to be done within individual geographical limitations, based on suggestions of this List. Whatever!
Best,
Duncan

Radio Shack is pretty expensive for this kind of thing. Look at the device DC requirements and Google it. You will be able to find something under 10 bucks although you may have to go get the right plug from radio shack and solder it on but it is no big deal. This is one reason I never throw away my old adapters.

I always bought direct from an Electronics Distributor warehouse with
"counter type" store service, and while RS used to have the better/best
quality stuff, they were always exactly double on small parts...
(I wasn't buying anything big from them. <grin>)
