SpinRite the drive before the ghost?
You can also try to fix the boot sector, worst case is it doesn't
work, causes a blackhole to form in your living room and all of the
known universe is sucked in like a cherry pie in front of a 500lb
walmart shopper. We've all seen worse I'm sure.
LOL!
Turned out the Dell recovery partition was hosed. Deleted them,
resized the main partition, then changed the boot records and it booted.
