WinterLight,
I do not have an option. My NAS runs normally with RAID1? (mirrored pair) at basic setup. Setup is done. I am now 12mo into my NAS. LOVE IT! ATM, I am happy with this level of data protection. I do have a spare HD should my NAS take a dive..... :(
Thanks for your feelings.
Best,
Duncan

I have two 500GB, one 1TB, and one 1.5 TB Seagate SATA 2 drives and they are all good. It doesn't make sense to get less then 1TB which can be had for around $85. However, most of these drives are not really designed for RAID like the enterprise drives, so they take a beating when they run in a RAID setup. Personally, I don't like RAID on a single user network, and at the sizes and speed available, I don't need for it.

Seeking info only. I do know that many here do NOT care for Seagate drives..... Fine.
Anyway, does anybody use any of these Seagate drives ATM?

ST31000 333AS
ST31000 340AS
ST31000 340NS
ST31000 340SV
ST31000 528AS
ST31000 5N1A1AS-RK
ST31000 5N1D1AS-RK
ST31000 640AS

Looking to upgrade my NAS........ :)

Right now my NAS uses a pair of ST3500830SCE drives. These 500GB drives appear to be built for use in home DVR devices. They work very well ATM. But, Seagate does not offer a 1TB model in this "DB35.2" series. Hmm...... :(

Duncan
