====== Settlement Summary From AMD PDF Print E-mail News - AMD Written by Chris Tom Thursday, 12 November 2009 10:23 AMD summarizes todays settlement as follows. * First, Intel has agreed to an important set of ground rules that we hope will define the path to a free and open market in the microprocessor industry; * Second, we have agreed to a new patent cross-license agreement that gives AMD broad rights and the freedom to operate a business utilizing multiple foundries, * And third, GLOBALFOUNDRIES has agreed to terms that allow them the freedom to operate as an independent world-class leading-edge foundry company, going forward, without being a subsidiary of AMD. * In addition, Intel has agreed to pay AMD $1.25 billion in cash within the next 30 days. So Intel will have to change business practices in CPU sales, they can not terminate AMD's license if AMD uses 3rd part fabs, they can not object to Globalfoundries fully being spun off from AMD, and they agree to pay cash. That basically settles everything. =================== Intel basically agrees it owes back licensing on AMD64 archetecture and practiced bad faith marketting.. and will pay $1.25B in cash, plus provide a full release of all instruction set and a crss-license agreemet to move forward allowing AMD Open use of 3rd Party fabs. This is a significant victory for AMD/
