Bryan/Forc5,
Thanks. I totally forgot to visit CNET! Went and got their share. Hmm. "Compaq"? No matter. I notice this driver is even older than the old driver on the PC (from Micron!) But, I will archive it just in case.

No biggie. I managed to gently persuade XP to accept and install Adaptec's "newest" suggestion for Win Server 2003. I'm told Server 03 is XP-based......... :) And, XP took it handily!

So far, it is all good. This old PC is a family heirloom. It is the first "real/modern" PC my older brother purchased after damn near wearing out an even older Compaq "suitcase" PC; the one with the 2 8in double-sided 'disk drives'. (My BIL now has the old Compaq!) LOL!

Thanks. I had forgotten just how old the 2940UW now is! (and I still have 3 more of them in my bone-yard pile, and a 2902, and a 2901, and a pair of 29160-64's!)
SCSI just ain't real popular now with SATA! LOL! Love SATA!
Best,
Duncan

Maybe?

I dunno... Linux would run pretty well on it? :)

Seeking talk with OLD SCSI folk on the list.
Others need not tell me about "Get Real Dude!).

Adaptec seems to NOT offer a 2940UW driver for WinXP.
Seems to offer everything else however.

I SO know all about the 2940UW.
I have lived with mine for ~15 years.

I can pull (un-install) my 2940UW and plug in a 29160....
and blow-off the "high-speed" channels (U160) if necessary.
Might this be my only OS-related choice?
(The machine does run Windows XPsp3).
(it is not the quickest kid in the sandbox!!!)

I fear that my old PC is NOT capable of doing a 29160.
I have not tried this yet.
Still Wondering?
Where did the XP drivers for the 2940UW disappear to?
Best,
Duncan
