Well, I must be doing something wrong but it has consistently failed me
as have the free solution I've tried. Never heard of echo.

Wow. I've never had an issue. I've used echo for a while and I've kept .tib images for years. :). Outside of a good freenas / combo, or a sync client, very few things I've found as useful as acronis. And echo is a great product.
