But won't your wireless device automatically reconnect as you lose one
router and go into range of the other one? Won't that be seamless
enough? Also, do you even need to pass off? Stuff near the MBR will
basically use the WAP in the second router.

Just wondering if you ever found a solution that works?
not yet. this is what Bilken came up with ... which is what I already
knew.
Ullas K Pai: Hi, my name is Ullas K Pai. How may I help you?
winterlight: I have a Belkin wireless #1Router F5D7231 working in a
home that has very, very poor reception outside of line of site,...
with any wireless remote device. The #1 Bilken works OK in two thirds
of the house. The end third of the house= MBR has no reception
whatsoever. So I got a second identical #2 Belkin F5D7231 on Ebay and
ran a CAT 5e into the room on that side of the house which I plugged
into a LAN port on the #1 router thirty feet away. both Both routers
have been flashed with the same identical latest firmware.
The routers have a wireless bridge mode that does not work because
there is no reception of the #1 router to the #2 router in the MBR.
So, on the #2 router, I enabled it as a WAP and assigned it a IP
number on the #1 routers LAN.
Can I now set up the #2 WAP with the same SSD and WPA-2 pass phrase as
the #1 router is using so that I get a seamless connection as you move
from one part of the house to another? Will this work? Or how should I
go about this?
Ullas K Pai: Please give me a moment while I review your response.
Ullas K Pai: Thank you for your patience.
Ullas K Pai: The second router is converted to an access point ,
correct ?
winterlight: yes, I have enabled it as a WAP and assigned it a IP
address on the LAN
Ullas K Pai: What was the IP you assigned to it ?
winterlight: 192.168.1.225
Ullas K Pai: What is the address of the first router ?
winterlight: 192.168.1.1 There is no problem with a wired connection.
I need to know if I can use the same ssd and pass phrase on the 2nd
router as I do on the first.
Ullas K Pai: In fact the SSID should be different and the security
mode must be the same for the main router and WAP
karl Grun: And this will result in the client staying connected as
they move from #1 router area to #2 router area?
Ullas K Pai: Not exactly, you need to connect to #2 SSID to stay
connected.
Ullas K Pai: Once you have a WAP, you need to connect to WAP's SSID
winterlight: I see, you have to set the computer up to auto connect
from one to the other. So there is no way to do this seamlessly other
then a wireless bridge... which doesn't work for me.
Ullas K Pai: I am sorry, that would be the only option. Connecting to
the SSID of the WAP
winterlight: OK, thank you. good bye.
