Thane,
This one is in your masterful hands. I wait for your perusal.

I just shared basic research. Have not found this KB on any of my clients yet. Perhaps a future party next (later this) month. Do not comprehend why 'clients' are affected; well except these clients have to speak upstream to a server affected by this goof.

My W2K Server updates no longer (never used IIS or active SMTP server); but, I have not spun up my really OLD XP clients yet either.......... :)

Perhaps, check your local 'upstream' servers' maybe?
Do you run a local SMTP server?

Beyond your physical building, I do not know. Most of the bitching I read is from upstream IT folk!
Best,
Duncan

Thane,
Are these client machines or servers. It seems that this patch is
driving SMTP servers crazy..

These are all clients. And it seems to be getting worse. The last 4
machines I updated keep coming back with this update everytime I run
Windows updats.

More on this. I tried uninstalling the update (from the folder spuninst)
then manually downloading and installing. It seemed to work, but after a
few reboots, it's back, asking to be installed. I'm going to try an
install in safe mode and see what happens.
