I can not argue strongly against either of your points. Mostly because
on the time, grief, money side I do agree; even before I look at the
SATA RAID controllers choices.
Figured that if I tossed the grand plan out, I'd get some fair dinkum.

Let me stew on this awhile more.
Certainly, I'm not planning a Viking Funeral for a presently fine
running server. Yet (?)
OK. Forget Plan A....... I'm just pissed that Redmond has told me to
piss off. (Stop laughing, Bryan!!!!)
I have Plan B. I'll share after I do some more research.

for consumer applications. The only issue is, what type of PCI slots do you
have, certainly no PCI-E.
Any PCI-X ? That being said, the cheapest PCI-X 3ware on newegg was only 4
ports @ $309.
