Have you thought about using a text editor that can record and playback keystrokes repeatedly? That way, you can do the manipulation before loading into the Excel. UltraEdit might be the one to try. Use a copy of your data file to tell if it works.

Got a problem that I need some quick advice on.

I have a large amount of text data that I need to analyze in Excel. The
problem is converting the data from its native text format into separate
rows/columns in a spreadsheet. I can use the file import option to bring
it into excel, but once it's in I need to concatenate every 2nd row to the
end of the row above it. So if after import I have the following:

A B C D E F G
H I J K L M N
A2 B2 C2 D2 E2 F2 G2
H2 I2 J2 K2 L2 M2 N2

I need to end up with the following:

A B C D E F G H I J K L M N

A2 B2 C2 D2 E2 F2 G2 H2 I2 J2 K2 L2 M2 N2

It's easy to do by hand, but with over 2,000 data sets it would be
tedious. Thoughts?
