Joshua,
Thank you for the "way-back" perspective. Yes, I do know Acronis. I know
it seems accepted here by several users.
I like the idea of the Seagate suggestion; sadly, I do not use Seagate
drives in my servers' RAID. Just can not afford them any more. I used
HGST at first; nice RMA service. Now I am using some "Dell"
bulk-commercial hard drives. Hmm? I will go check again. They may be
Seagate!
I am trying to backup my current W2K "user" data of the server. Then, I
plan to format and replace the now defunct W2K Server OS. Post this
worrisome operation, if the backup is compatible, I hope to save a weeks
time using the restore function of the current Veritas software.
Best,
Duncan

That was my impression also, never used it since I had owned real BE

Same kind of deal for Acronis True Image, Seagate for sure has a free
version of some version of TI with basic backup functionality. As long
as it sees a Seagate drive it works.
What are you trying to do that isn't better handled by ATIH 2010
acquired on deal?

Ahhh...there is nothing wrong with the backup utility included with
Windows. I thought I had read somewhere it is basically a stripped down
version of Backup Exec. Not sure I would be much help on anything
specific as I have not used that one exactly, but I used to do server
backups when I was working so I might be able to help with a general
backup question...possibly ?

Gary,
I use the "Backup" utility included in WinXPro.
I assume that nobody on this list does due to it being MS.
Was hoping somebody had some experience with this canned
program. Nothing more.
Was willing to go off-list for further traffic. Suppose I need some
help
via "obvious." Sorry.
Best,
Duncan

Would like to trade emails about the SUBJ.
I do not wish to load some other code/logic, ATM.
I am open to other code/logic, but ATM I only need to speak about my
default XP BACKUP logic. It does seem to work. I use it each month.
Yes, manually. (I need chores!!)
Best,
Duncan
