Just rcvd a pair of Seasonic X-650 (SS-650KM) 650W modular PSUs. My
first modular units.
Got them from newegg and I gave up $140 each. A bit pricey, but I can
not recall the last time I spent less than $120 a pop for my psu
choices. Yes, I know that there are cheaper psus available. I choose
not to scrimp (and never have!). A psu is a primary component in any of
my builds and is never subject to cost cutting.
On the whole, I am very impressed with the Seasonic packaging and their
attention to small details. Some may not care for the black fuzzy bag
the psu comes in, or, the nice "wallet-paks" that the modular cables
arrive in, but I see these as very nice touches. I can stash the un-used
modular cables and "wallet-paks" in the black bag and toss it on my
shelf. The fuzzy bag tells me what's inside!
The 120mm cooling is HUGE! My very first of this size. The modular
cable interface looks just like similar power interfaces I have seen
before and even worked with. Very familiar territory. Seems beefy
enough to go the distance.
Small grump: I can not find any coding for "date of mfg." anywhere.
...... ;(
Bigger grump: These psus are made in China. ...... :(
I sorta expected Indonesia, Thailand, or, Japan. In time I will get
over this, I suppose.
I suspect that I may have to get use to China as a major supplier now
and in the future.
If I get 6-12 years use from these psus I will be very pleased. I have
seen pix of the interior components. I have no concerns about any of it.
This is most likely the most modern psu I have used.
Thank you all who shared suggestions, recommendations, opinions, favs,
etc. ATM, Seasonic is fast becoming my psu brand of choice in the future.
Best,
Duncan
