I don't think prime95 is much of a stressor. I ran it for days
while working in the foreground. It was like it wasn't even there.
Only the temps went up 10 to 15 degrees C.
Now I'm using LinX, which is claiming to drive the cpu at 100% and
max out the ram. Yet, I can still run a youtube video in the
background (I do have a zillion windows open in firefox). Typing
this email is showing that LinX is there, though, as there is a
severe delay with the keystrokes most of the time. Temps are in the
mid 50s on all four cores. The advantages of early spring time benching.
What else is there to try? What will drive this thing up into the 90s?
I do have the deluxe version of that board that Greg, Duncan and Tim
all seemed to like on the way (thanks for that). I got the deluxe
version because I like features and see little need anymore for PCI
slots. I find that with these upscale boards those extra features
come in handy down the road when the system gets repurposed.
You could try Intel BurnTest + FurMark together.
Should heat up the box pretty quickly.
