Time for a bit of ancient history: XP.
There was a registry hack that made an XP computer invisible on a LAN.
You could still access it if you knew the name/IP address, but it would
not show up in the network browser. I can't remember what it was, nor
do I have it written down anywhere. Reason? I have a hacked install of
XP that I've installed in Virtualbox that is invisible. Only after I
installed it did I remember that it was hacked that way. I'm running
Virtualbox to get a 32 bit version of XP running on my Win7 64 bit
system so that I can run a 16 bit application and get data out of it.
Yeah, it's PFS: Write again.....
I've tried searching for this hack but it's very slow going as there are
thousands of pages on how to make a computer invisible on a wireless
network. And the same idiots are making the same lame jokes on all of
them....
Anyone remember the invisible registry hack?
Thanks...Steve
