Odds are any speakers for home/pc use are either 4 or 8ohm with most being 8, so not likely to be an issue. When in doubt you can use a DMM on the speakers to read the resistance. Biggest drawback of loading 8ohm speakers on 4ohm system would be 1/2 power output.

not a good idea to mix speakers unless you're prepared for a negative outcome.
