I suppose if I looked at the routers logs I may see the same thing, I stopped doing that years ago, drove me nuts. ( short trip for me)
( checked my logs, most hits are LAN with occasional WAN hit rejected due to security settings) My DNS set to receive automatically from ISP. FWIW. Perhaps a lot of sniffing going on. As long as they do not get thru. Also when I had the FTP server running I was shocked at the attempts to log in anonymously. ( which I turned off) I am afraid I have not clue. I do not set dns settings in the router, Sorry not much help. u asked about the Netgear switch, GS105 (5 port) Bought a sheathing kit, not worth it, hard to do. Got one on. Tried to fire up the customer build with ddr2 out of the Dell from hell, 1 long, 3 short beeps. Assuming memory. mb supports ddr2 800, dell crap is 400. Waiting for more parts. :'( too much spare time we have Jedi Yoda At 10:27 AM 11/12/2010, DSinc Poked the stick with: >I have a new ISP (epbfi.com?). They have their own DNS servers: >66.18.32.2 (p) >66.18.32.3 (s) > >My router is a DLink DGL4500; so I set it to point to the ISP's DNS servers. > >I am trying to figure out why my router is being hammered by another server of >my ISP. I say hammered because my router's log file fills up with [info] >listings of blocked requests from another ISP server to my assigned IP addy. >The server is: >host-68-169-188-189.mapoltl.epb.com > >Yes, I could just deselect [info] objects from my router's log file. > >I've spoken to the tech support staff. They tell me I am getting "reverse DNS >routing" stuff. I was told to remove my router's dedicated DNS assigns and set >my router to "dynamic." I think I have done this. Now my router shows the >following up-stream ATT DNS servers: >204.194.234.200 (p) >204.194.232.200 (s) > >Little help. I am still hammered by a local ISP server. It looks like it is >scanning every port of the router's SPI Firewall. Very strange new game for me! > >If I could find the "Block This IP Addy" part of my router's f/w, I would just >block this server's addy. I have not found this feature yet......... :) > >Suggestions, opinions, knowledge welcome! >Best, >Duncan > > >__________ Information from ESET Smart Security, version of virus signature >database 5615 (20101112) __________ > >The message was checked by ESET Smart Security. > >http://www.eset.com > > -- Tallyho ! ]:8) Taglines below ! -- I'm flexible..just don't change anything.
