FORC5 was prescient again! The HWG are beta-testers at (best-price) retail! But, I read the JRS link 3 times. The 3rd paragraph is opposite of the Intel statement about this issue. The core I5 and I7 processors (cpus) are NOT affected. The bad "support" chipset affects the m/b only. Unless I'm just getting more stupid(?)........ :) Best, Duncan On 01/31/2011 12:03, JRS wrote: > If you just purchased a system powered by Intel's Core i5 or i7 chipset, get > ready for a return or repair. > > Intel has a chipset issue that affects the launch of Sandy Bridge. > > http://www.zdnet.com/blog/btl/intel-hit-with-chipset-design-flaw-in-sandy-bridge-rollout/44257 > > > > > -- > JRS > [email protected] > > > Facts do not cease to exist just > because they are ignored. >
