I'm rebuilding my HTPC and will be using 2 Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 cards to provide 16 SATA connectors: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816101358
They require a PCIe 2.0 x4 slot. Does anyone see a bandwidth problem with using this motherboard paired with a Intel 2500k CPU, assuming I don't need to put a graphics card in it? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157250 My alternative would be to go with this LGA 1155 motherboard and a Xeon E-3 1225: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131725&Tpk=ASUS%20P8B%20WS Any real advantages to using the server motherboard/CPU? The machine will be transcoding media content, doing playback duties for the main home theater, and serving as a general fileserver on the LAN. --------- Brian
