WD media players have been around for at least five years and have held the top spot on Maxium PC since they began. I bought my first one ..a SD mini in 2005 and every year since they have expanded the product line. The product you got sounds like a great bargain but I have never heard of the brand.... has anybody else... do they make any other products?

I thought about that. This was a hard decision for me. One that that steered me away from the WD is the fact that media players are not WDs main products. Did not want then to decide a year down the road that they did not want to do media players anymore and stop future upgrades on their products. I am tempted to get one of these myself, however the thing that is holding me back is the fan. The WDs have no fan, no noise, no moving parts to go wrong, and you can barely see them.
