have rcvd 12-15 years of
24/7 use from the Seagate HDs I have owned.
True, I may not thrash my drives with huge reads and writes; but I
do defrag mine monthly!
Just the fact that Seagate won't release their actual SMART
information so it's all guess work is enough to make me avoid the
line. Add to that what appears to be sudden fall offs of drives
(they will go from just slight error rates to complete failure in
days or weeks) is also a bad sign that I don't see in WD.
