I'm torn as well. I carry a work-provided iPhone 4, and a personal Galaxy S (on Sprint). The iPhone, long my most-used non-PC "computer", is now used for little more than work e-mail and occasional glances at stocks and weather. I find the interface to be dated. It's old, it's boring, it just isn't fun to use any more. The screen is tiny and, while sporting great resolution, is otherwise dull. On the other hand, my Android phone gets terrible battery life and Android in general has a horribly broken distribution model for OS updates. The hardware, however, makes a big difference--I love the AMOLED screen and barring some unexpected breakthrough, do NOT want use a regular LCD for my main personal phone ever again. I am hopeful that WP may eventually take off and be a viable alternative. Most feedback is surprisingly positive, but it has a big hole to overcome.
I find myself using either device much less for basic browsing since getting an Android tablet. I still move to the PC for anything more than casual browsing or to write e-mails more than a few sentences. 24" screens, six >4GHz cores, and a superb Filco keyboard (MJ2 Linear R with MX Red keyswitches for any fellow keyboard snobs) still make for an incomparably superior experience. All that said, I will likely move to the next-gen iPhone once I'm eligible for an upgrade on my work device, and probably the latest Samsung Android device when Sprint gets one running on their yet-unbuilt LTE network. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Saturday, February 25, 2012 10:38 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [H] Galaxy Nexus My wife carries an iphone. I carry an iphone for work now. I'm about to switch my blackberry to a Nokia 900 the day it drops. To each their own. Same would go for google if they close other manufacturers out of android. What is *now* has no effect on the future if consumers continue to drink the Kool Aid of the iEvangelists.
