JoeUser,
Some confusion maybe. Here is what my left-hand widow looks like:

icon-ISP email addy
  icon-Inbox (6)
  icon-Drafts
  icon-Sent
  icon-Trash
icon-Local Folders
  icon-Inbox (? empty)
  icon-Drafts (? empty)
  icon-Sent (? empty)
  icon-Trash (? empty)
  icon-Outbox (? empty)
  icon-Folder w/name
  icon-Folder w/name
  ... 29 more as above ...

My issue is what appears to be empty duplicate 'system' icons in the
/Local Folders/ area. Confusing because they never contain anything.

That's what I do, just ignore. If you close the list - it stays closed.
That's only one line then ' local folders '

I'm really liking this too, reminds me of (not surprisingly) Mozilla's email application, which I also enjoyed.

JoeUser,
ATM I lean to this, and try and ignore these empty icons in the
/Local Folders.

I do know that some months ago, I got courageous, and peeked
into the area where the TBird 'Profile' info lives. What a confusing
collection for stuff! Yet, I did stumble across a folder that focused
on my previous ISP (bellsouth.net). I peeked inside and saw what I
believe were MSC files that I could read in wordpad. Looked like old
email; forgot to print it out for further study. Sadly, I can not find
this location again! I know; sux2BMe!

I'll keep peeking................ :)
Otherwise, TBird runs great!
